I’m Jared Earnest. I recently graduated from the University of Dallas in philosophical studies, under the direction of Holy Trinity Seminary, which I entered at the age of 19. I’m now looking forward to continuing seminary formation at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans.

Lindale, Texas is home for me—my family moved there from the Midland/Odessa area of West Texas. I am the youngest of four, my sister lives out West and my eldest brother in San Antonio. My middle brother remains in Tyler area, as do my parents, having become attached to the Piney Woods.

I was homeschooled growing up, which allowed for some interesting travel opportunities. My Dad works in the oilfield industry and when work brought him to Ploiesti, Romania, I went with him. The Earnest family spent about two years there. After finishing high school, I began studying as a criminal justice major looking toward a law enforcement career.

Eventually, I stopped resisting the Lord’s tug on my heart toward priesthood; after meeting with Fr. Braun, who was then the vocations director, I began the application process for seminary, if not somewhat skeptically. However, that decision to follow the call has proved to be one filled with many blessings and much joy, even amidst trials.

My previous assignment having been Sacred Heart in Nacogdoches, please know that I am praying for all y’all in Sacred Heart, Texarkana. I look forward to meeting more of you and getting to know you better!

Con el tiempo, dejé de resistir el tirón del Señor en mi corazón hacia el sacerdocio; después de reunirme con el P. Braun, que entonces era el director de vocaciones, empecé el proceso de solicitud para seminario, si no algo escéptico. Sin embargo, esa decisión de seguir el llamado ha demostrado ser llena de muchas bendiciones y mucha alegría, incluso en medio de pruebas.
